The internet works on my machine in Linux but only through a sketchy ethernet-through-power adapters I've got plugged into the wall power outlet in the room with the modem and my room. So at that point I gave up and started searching for a better wifi dongle more easily compatible with Linux, but that's quite difficult to find as well. Then I tried again and it said something about linux headers not containing something required, so I again searched and found some package called "current-linux-headers" so installed that and tried again but it was still giving me the same error.
